The Madge WLAN Probe 2 is the world's first multi-band 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth wireless intrusion detection probe. The probe continuously scans the airspace around your company, and instantly alerts you to any unauthorized internal or external wireless communication from 802.11a/b/g or Bluetooth enabled laptops, PDAs or mobile phones.

If you have a wireless LAN or you think that you don't have one, the Madge WLAN Probe is an essential addition to your network security infrastructure.

The probe will recognize your network, your neighbors network and any unknown networks. When the probe discovers a new device or an access point it will determine if the device is authorized to communicate with your network. The probe will also trigger an alert if any unencrypted traffic is detected within your network. Ad hoc (peer-to-peer) conversations activity, which can pose a security risk, will also trigger an alert. In total, there are 28 wireless events that can be detected and filtered.

Probes are quickly deployed for cost effective rollout and low cost of ownership. Power through ethernet (802.3af) means that only one connection is required to connect to the network.

Web browser setup allows network administrators to set up one probe and then export the setup to other probes. The firmware is fully upgradeable to recognize new wireless intrusion patterns and to support further product enhancements.

The Madge WLAN Probe proactively monitors your airspace 24x7 to capture, store and relay events in real time. Events can be viewed using a standard web browser or using SNMPv2 with 2 trap destinations. Event filtering reduces 'false alarms'.
